El Alamein Desalination Plant, Egypt

Need

The coastal region of El Alamein was facing an increasing demand for drinking water due to tourism development and population expansion. The Egyptian government's Ministry of Defence needed a solution to ensure a constant water supply in this area.

Solution

In 2018, a desalination plant was built using reverse osmosis technology, designed by Aqualia and FCC Construcción. The plant, located on the Mediterranean coast, has a capacity of 150,000 cubic metres of drinking water per day, with specific units for drinking water, permeate and remineralised water.

Nutribén Treatment System Expansion, Madrid, Spain

Need

Nutribén, a leader in the baby food industry, needed to expand its processing system to increase food manufacturing capacity and meet growing demand.

Solution

In 2017, an expansion of the treatment system was implemented at its facilities in Madrid. The upgrade included the installation of a 750 m³ biological reactor and a 140 m³ homogeniser, optimising the production process.

Waste Treatment Plant in Fresno de la Ribera, Zamora

Need

Sertego, specialising in waste management, required a solution to improve the storage and handling of leachate at its plant in Fresno de la Ribera, Zamora. The facility had to meet stringent environmental standards and optimise leachate control to prevent contamination and protect public health.

Solution

In 2013, three leachate storage tanks with a capacity of 1,100 m³ each (290,589 gallons) were installed at the Fresno de la Ribera plant. The tanks are made of vitrified steel, guaranteeing durability and resistance to corrosion.
